What would the going rate be for an immaculate ( nearly ) Gem which starts and runs like a dream. ( He wants a grand for it). The only fault seems to be the diff. not engaging. Can this be adjusted or is the likely to be a fault inside the transmission ? The rod moves in when the rotors are engaged but I did not try it in work. Hope someone can help, Pete

Don't know about price, haven't seen these on the usual auction site at quite that much. I've got one of these. The differential sometimes won't engage straight away, depends where the gear teeth are. In work at the start of the row often one drive wheel will spin until diff engages. Sometimes you have to encourage this by tilting machine slightly to one side. If you only tried it on a hard level surface perhaps the wheels couldn't spin to allow it to engage. Did the rod go right home or was it only half in?

For a grand i would want a perfect in everyway hatz super gem, mine with gearbox issues cost me £360 ish, a very tidy normal hatz gem in full working order should be about £750 tops.
If it isnt orange it isnt a rotavator

I had to open the gearbox on my kohler gem to replace the sliding pinion gear  (engages 1st and 2nd gear) and a selector ...the diff is on the opposite site of the gearbox to the gearbox cover ..a lot of ripping to get at.  Parts are also expensive ..paid about 130 quid in total between parts from standens and Mr C . Really should be perfect for that money.

Most used the wico a with a twin adaptor rotor cap where the condensor/points cover went, i believe this mag was used extensivly on the lister amongst other engines so should be easy to find, perhaps will would be good enough to translate?

here we go!!

De flesta använde Wico en med en twin-adapter rotor lock där kondensor / poäng täcka gick, jag tror det mag användes extensivly på Lister bland andra motorer så ska vara lätt att hitta
