Ohh dear the slippery slope of Land Rover ownership and engine transplants!!! I had a Rover 2000 SC (P6) engine in my 1957 88 for a good few years, now running a 2 1/4 with overdrive. Eldest son is rebuilding his Lightweight with 3.5 V8 and auto gearbox will also have ful ALRC spec roll cage when finished. Then I can have my garage back!!!!
Well done to you and the start of many years of Land Rovering, next years National is at Belvoir Castle in May.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone asked!!!
Several reasons. The main one is fuel economy, From what I've read the non turbo in a series will do 40MPG, the main reason I'm doing the conversion. Secondly Its only a short term measure, until I can afford to rebuild and run the petrol which is currently rather sickly with a dodgey Weber carb. Also removing the turbo helps simplify the plumbing under the bonnet (got £96 for the intercooler ![]() I'm rather pleased with it at the moment, People have said it will be very noisy and harsh, but it doesn't seem to bad to me. If necessary, I'll get another turbo and manifold and put it back on. Don't smell to great at the moment, 50/50 diesel/SVO ![]() Andrew |
