I bought this one from H.J.Pugh auction at Welland, Nr Malvern a few years ago, cost me 10. I had a bit of a play when I got it home, changing the purple plug lead, but no spark and it didn't have a tank.....
Picture as purchased...

It has been painted, chaincase should be green...

Latest picture with a choice of tanks

Having a look inside the mag....

Points are corroded, not much joy with the multimeter on the coil either.

The next step is to remove the flywheel and sort the mag out. I'll use the advice from posts on here - especially the last bit!

Flywheel removed today....

Used a hub cap spanner to hold the flywheel, with a length of seat belt instead of a strap....

Success, it's off, points aren't as bad as they look, but the coil is O/C. I've got a new one but it may not be a Mk 10, only one way to find out, get it and compare....

St_D - Yes, it's the only Colwood I've got and I'd like to get it running....

SK - I wouldn't have if it hadn't been for your timely post, that's going to save a lot of headaches!

I've looked out the coil and it has two terminals for the plug lead(s). This won't work in the Mk 10 because neither of them line up with the adaptor on the end of the plug lead. It could be a wartime engine which had two plug leads, one to run the engine and one for something else. Has anyone got an idea....
Anyway I'm off to Villiers parts to get a shiny new coil and condenser....

I've shelved it for a while, due to playing with Merry Tillers, but I'll get a coil and condenser for it soon and well have it running....

Hi gary yes got the link ok yes its a standard model A colwood going from the no I would say its a later one .but you can usually roughly date it from the AJH no on the engine cowl its normally in a small oval under the fuel tank or on the plate the engine breather bolts to . Drop me a pm if you need any help.
Steve.
