I'm having trouble with the clutch not disengaging on my Mayfield, the clutch opens on one side but is still driving on the other side. I stripped it down and cleaned it all up last summer and everything seemed ok for a few weeks but then started to stick again, any ideas anyone please. Sten

You say you cleaned it and it was ok for a while if it was oil you cleaned off then this is the cause it will be coming out of the gearbox a part cure would be to drain the box and refill with a semi liquid grease this should help for a while.

Yes it was oil but I just guesed it was years of oil coming off the chain, I will strip it again to see if it oil coming from the gearbox, thank you for your advice.

Try adjusting the springs to pull off evenly, and check the splines in the clutch hub aren't burred..

I find mine sticks for the first time starting if I have not run it for bit. Just stick it in gear and pull the clutch with a load, let it slip once and I find it works fine after that.

Phil, I find the same on my Trusty Earthquake, also Monro Tiller which has a different clutch arrangement.
