Now the warmer weather's here i've ventured out to the shed and having a look in the pile of parts filling my storeroom its given me an idea to build another special. the first thing i came across was a set of early narrow rims (gotta start somewhere) so had them blasted and got them into primer.  photo to follow

Whatever you build, your standards will no doubt be exceptionalThumbs%20Up. So that's the wheels.......do we get to see progress pics, or the end product?.
Oh!, if you trip over another narrow 8" Front Rim in your Pile that's in your way and would part with, I'm in need of one.

i'll try and do a build "progress" but its not always easy, i have to slot bits in when times available. it will be ready for Ardingly if not before.
Ill have a look richard to see if i have any more rims, but their hard to find,
i'am out of back ones now so will have to make some if i need any more

they are our little helpers legs john,he"s one of them kids who wheres trousers four sizes to big for him showing his knickers off all the time and you can never see his feet cos he spends most of the day pulling them back up,so being a health and safety issue we cut the legs of them problem solved . well, the suns been out down here in the deep south and i've been in the engine room looking for a power unit to drive the new wheels. among all the kohlers and clintons i found these two babies well big boys. i've put a 8 hp kohler next to it so you can see the differance in size, should'nt be a problem.  Tongue

Looking at those engines...   I guess your not going for a "short frame" chassis for this build then Chris  LOLBig%20smile
What make are they?
Are you putting them both in/on the Wheel Horse?

iam going to make another chassis as they are megga heavy and i think i might have to extend it a few inches, the redish engine is a bradford 4 hp hit & miss and the green one is the same but a little later with 2 pushrods 1948 ish.
first the horse, then the engine, then the tractor, so ive got it in one unit

todays task was to extend the steering, todo this i ground off the welds on the gear plate and front bracket and rewelded them on a longer rod which is 3/4" rod from a mower deck axle. I placed the bonnet on just to see where it lines up

a couple of good points john. I have never tried to work out hours i spend on my projects, the reason i do it is that i get a lot of pleasure from doing it, after all at the end of the day its a hobby to do in my spare time. what else would i be doing (dont ask Pam).
when I made the chassis I've used 2x2 angle iron with extra welded where the engine sits, at the back i've used the same with extra supports instead of the formed tin that wheelhorse use. the front tyres are 400x8 instead of the 6-50x8 (smaller footprint, less strain) the weight of a 10 or 16 hp kohler and battery that i wont use, and bear in mind that wheelhorse also fit a snow blower or front loader on them and sometimes a cab i think the bearings will be ok. the intenstion is to use it to run a bench saw or genny so wont be doing big mileage
