Hello, have come across a tractor today and interested if anyone knows anything about them. we think it is called a Barford Mastiff. It is a interrow machine much like the later type of Bean Hoe. I will see about photos tomorrow. Was told the made 30 and this machine is number 30

Do you mean the Barford-Maskell Row Crop Tractor ?
Produced by Barfords of Belton Ltd part of the Aveling Barford Group Looks a bit like the later Russell 3D and was powered by a Enfield 100 twin cylinder air cooled diesel Steered by a tiller arrangement onto the two front wheels. regards FP

These row crop tractors were made by H Maskell & Son, Wilstead, Bedfordshire. A photo of one appears in the June 1961 Farm Implement & Machinery Review Magazine report of the Sugar Beet Spring Demonstration that had taken place that year at Cantley, By March 1963 the design has changed substantially, with more underbody clearance due to bridge style frame. It was being advertised by Barfords of Belton as the Barford-Maskell Row-Crop tractor, it cost £760 delivered, when a David Brown 2D cost £424 and a Fordson Super Major was £745 12s. |
